After graduating from the Friedrichs-Gymnasium Herford he studied law with a focus on labor and tax law at the University of Bayreuth and completed parallel to it an additional training in economics at the University of Bayreuth. In 1998 he completed his studies. From 1998 to 2000 he completed a clerkship at the Higher Regional Court Bamberg; with stations in both civil and family law department, as well at the Criminal Court of the District Court Kulmbach; the Administrative Court and District Office Bayreuth, and in a law firm specializing in tax law. After conclusion of the clerkship in May 2000 with the second state examination, he acquired theoretical knowledge as a specialist lawyer for tax law having successfully attended the respective specialist lawyer training at the SWA Bayreuth. In December 2000 he got his lawyer&#8217;s certificate. Since 13.04.2005 lawyer Joerg Haferkorn is entitled to use the title for lawyers specializing in tax law.
